Many people have moulded their bodies to make them look more healthy and more desirable. However, there is no way to attain this new look in a day of two. The problem is that most people do not want to wait, they want it now.</p>
<p>This can lead to these people making rather rash and, it has top be said, rather silly decisions. They are not willing to wait and they are not willing to work for what they want. This is why so many people turn to rapid weight loss diets. Some &#8216;guru&#8217; brings out a new fad diet and a good proportion of the &#8216;I want it now&#8217; crowd jump on the band wagon. Only to be disappointed again within the year or less.</p>
<p>Speed diets or rapid weight loss diets tend to put out great advertising copy that is very hard to resist. However, all diets, no matter which one you choose, Weight Watchers, Atkins or fad diet, depend on overweight people making lifestyle changes in order for them to work permanently.</p>
<p>There is a very apposite saying: if you always do what you always did, then you will always get what you always got. That says it all. You can lose weight with all but the stupidest of diets, but if you go back to your old ways when you hit your target weight, you MUST slowly, but surely creep back to your old weight.</p>
<p>If you give your body more calories than it needs, it will store them for when it does need them. The problem is that that day never comes for too many people, because they never exert themselves. This is particularly true of fad diets like the &#8216;cabbage water&#8217; diet. Yes, you will lose weight on it, but you would lose weight by fasting whatever you did. For a while, and then you might get sick. For a diet to work, it has to be flexible and enjoyable enough for you to be able to stick with it for the rest of your life. Make no mistake, dieting is long-haul.</p>
<p>Many rapid weight loss programs actually only squeeze the water out of you. Just like a wet sponge. But a good dieter maintains his or her grip on that sponge, not letting it soak up water again. The problem with short term dieting, is that you let go of the sponge underwater.</p>
<p>This is why serial dieters first lose weight and are happy; then finish dieting, go back to their old weight and become depressed. In that state of depression they are suckers for the advertisers of the next latest craze diet. In other words, they are being manipulated and literally squeezed dry, but of their money too.</p>
<p>These silly rapid weight loss programs also include fat loss pills. They are not making you lose fat, well, maybe a tiny amount gets flushed out with all the excess water you are carrying. They are only diuretics under another name. How many pills would I sell if I called them diuretics? How many more would I sell if I called them miracle fat loss pills?</p>
<p>Type the word diuretic into a engine and find out more about them. They are all around you in mild healthy forms. A diuretic will essentially cause your body to lose more fluid than was in the diuretic. Tea is a diuretic, for example.</p>
<p>This list of these dopey dieting aids to rapid weight loss goes on and on, but someone must be buying them and you can bet your bottom dollar that it is the sad, depressed dieter who let go of the sponge.</p>
<p>Slimming soap! Slimming soap is being advertised as being a rare Eastern remedy for corpulence. Well, let me tell you, I live in the East and I have never seen it here. Asians are slim because they do a lot of physical work and do not come under the pressure to eat junk food that Westerners do, although that situation is changing rapidly too.</p>
<p>Magnetic weight loss earrings, I ask you! Even being drunk without a present for your wife ten minutes before Christmas Day is not a good enough excuse to fall for this one, surely? The advertisers say that the secret of this set of earrings is that they are magnetic.</p>
<p>Well, if you believe this, why not get a pair of $1 children&#8217;s toy magnets or even a couple of fridge magnets and put one in each hip pocket? Two? Well, after all, you would not want to lose weight from only one side, would you? You would be lop sided.</p>

There are thousands of programs, but many of them are just just batty. If they sound foolish, they probably are. Have you heard of the &#8216;cabbage water diet&#8217;? It sounds daft and it is. You cannot only drink cabbage water all your life!</p>
<p>Although there is a lot of nonsense talked about losing weight, there are some truths that play a role to play in almost any program you choose to follow. One of these truths is that it is better to eat many small meals during the day (about 5-6), than to go all day without eating and then gorging yourself at dinner in the evening. This is popularly called &#8216;grazing&#8217;.</p>
<p>Have you ever asked yourself why this might be so? Well, the fact is, that the average human body can only process about 250 calories per hour. If you eat more than that, you are almost certainly overloading your digestive system. This is why it is important, because if your body cannot use all the calories that you give it, it will stockpile them.</p>
<p>Your body can only use up what it requires to execute the job that it is busy with, that is, what you are putting it through. If you are watching TV, most of those 250 will be stored. If you are exercising, most will be burned up. It stores the remainder as body fat. Your body has learned through evolution that hard times will come, so it prepares for them. It is like us putting excess money in a savings account or people hoarding food if a bad winter is predicted.</p>
<p>However, these days in the West, we seldom face those lean times anymore. So, that fat is never used up and we just keep adding to it until we resolve, by choice, to limit our intake of calories or increase our amount of exercise.</p>
<p>Knowing this information, what can we do with it? Well, if you were to want to lose weight, you ought to be consuming no more than 1,500 calories a day (or whatever your program tells you), so 1,500 divided by 250 is six. if you ate 250 calories every other hour, that would give you twelve hours.</p>
<p>Therefore, eating light but often would be a helpful strategy or program to follow, because first of all, you are only providing your body with what it requires, when it needs it and secondly, you are able to better maintain a consistent blood sugar level, which means that you level out the spikes and troughs you experience in a normal day&#8217;s cycle.</p>
<p>Two hundred and fifty calories does not sound a lot, but it is surprising what it will stretch too, if you take the trouble to investigate. It is true that you will have to rigorously restrict some foodstuffs, like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes, but whoever seriously thought that you could lose weight by eating that stuff anyway?</p>
<p>If you do not have time to cook a number of times every day, look in your supermarket. There are loads of &#8216;250 calorie&#8217; microwave meals. You don&#8217;t want to eat that? I can&#8217;t blame you. so get a good cookbook, which shows calorie content. You are at work all day? OK, eat some fruit, but select wisely. It can be done, it only takes a little determination and planning.</p>

While some believe that they are indivisible, nothing could be further from the truth. It is quite possible to follow a perfectly healthy diet with appalling exercise habits. It is equally possible to be physically fit with less than perfect eating habits.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s a clever little line in the Jimmy Buffet lyrics &#8220;Fruitcakes&#8221; when his &#8216;lady&#8217; is lamenting: &#8220;I treat my body like a temple, You treat yours like a tent&#8221;</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t help thinking of this line whenever I think about all the people around the world who are on these garbage in, garbage out diet regimens hoping to achieve the weight loss success of those who are promoting the items.</p>
<p>To be totally honest, it is possible to shed pounds by dieting alone. It is difficult but possible. It is also possible to be physically fit and still have a few extra pounds. To a large degree, we are what we eat. If we follow a high fat low fibre diet our bodies are going to lack the fuel required to burn the fat. At the same time if we are not providing our bodies with the tools it requires to create muscle it does not matter how many weights we lift.</p>
<p>When it comes to diet and fitness, the best results are achieved when they are combined together rather. Use your fitness routine to burn excess calories and use your diet in order to provide your body with the nutrients and fuel it requires to build muscle.</p>
<p>A pound of muscle takes up less space on the body than a pound of fat. Pound for pound, I would much prefer mine be composed of muscle than fat. Dieting alone does not build muscle and that is something you would do well to remember.</p>
<p>You should also realize that as you are building muscle you may be shedding inches while not showing a great deal of progress on the scale. It is very important that you keep this in mind throughout the weight loss process. Do not measure your progress by the scales alone or you will observe deceptive results.</p>
<p>The difficulty is that far too many people do just this, grow frustrated and give up when they are actually making improvement. Do not allow yourself to be a victim of the scales. Look in the mirror, try on your tight slacks, and measure your waistline. Measure your success by how you feel after climbing a flight of stairs not by the scales.</p>
<p>By incorporating exercise into your diet routine you are also enabling your body to burn off any extra calories you may have consumed during the day. This means that if you want to have a small &#8216;cheat&#8217; during your day, you can make up for it by burning a few more calories than usual in the evening. This is not something that should happen often but an infrequent occurrence is not going to make or break your diet.</p>
<p>You should also consider dieting and fitness as a hand and glove type of relationship. They fit together. Diet and fitness when combined can create incredible weight loss results for those who take them both sincerely.</p>
<p>The thing to remember is that neither works well alone and neither will work unless you are willing to do the work. You must make this a priority in your life in order to achieve the best possible results.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This piece of writing is about my experiences of international and inter-racial dating. It is simply an account of what I have witnessed and experienced myself over the course of my life so far, although at 55 years old, I am nearer the end of it than the beginning. It is my guidance on dealing with an international or inter-racial relationship.</p>
<p>It all began at an early age when I was in infant school at seven. There was a Filipina girl in our class and I could not take my eyes off her, although I probably did not know much about it then. We parted at eight when they moved closer to another school and I never saw her again.</p>
<p>My next meeting with a foreign girl, was the mademoiselle junior teacher at school and I was convinced that I would marry a French country girl when I grew up. That passed when the German assistant arrived.</p>
<p>When I was fourteen, I went on a school cruise to Leningrad and there was a party of exchange students going home to Sweden on the same ship. I went out with one of them for roughly a week and first realized the issues that can come from international dating. There was a slight language barrier, but it was fun getting over that. The real problem came, because I had preconceived ideas of what Swedish girls were like, most likely instilled in me after years of silly &#8216;Carry On&#8217; films.</p>
<p>At sixteen, I went to Germany to work for the summer and I found it very easy to get on with the German girls, although they were shyer that I was expecting too. Also an outlook I owed to silly Health and Efficiency &#8217;sex films&#8217;.</p>
<p>After concluding university, I moved to The Netherlands to live. It was the seventies and Dutch girls were great. However, I made friends with male British colleagues first and soon saw some of the problems that can come from an international relationship. Most of the men I knew were typical Brits and made totally no attempt to learn Dutch at all. Surprisingly, many Dutch people could not speak English either, especially the parents.</p>
<p>This lead to a surprising quantity of stressful moments in a week and that put a lot of pressure on my friends&#8217; relationships. It is so easy to start name-calling when you are angry and it is the worst thing you can do. The Dutch girlfriend or her parents or friends would be called &#8216;a stupid cheese eater&#8217; or something equally daft and the relationship was over or in trouble for days. I do not remember what the Dutch called us.</p>

These children cannot run, jump or play with other children because their bodies simply will not allow them to do so. Dieting is a necessity for these kids despite our best efforts to protect them from the self-esteem problems that often accompany obesity.</p>
<p>If you have a child that is well outside the average weight range for his or her age, you are the one who must take the required steps to make certain that they lose those extra pounds in order to live a life that is as close to normal as they can. The first thing you need to do however is consult your child&#8217;s physician about the best possible course of action to safeguard the health of your child.</p>
<p>Put quite bluntly however, if you do not make the effort to help your child to lose those pounds you are placing the health of your child at risk. We do not let our kids play in the street, we do not let them run about with knives, why on Earth would we allow them to commit suicide by candy? If you have a child that is overweight, the following advice should assist you and them with their dieting.</p>
<p>First of all, do not make food a penalty or a reward. Food is part of the problem with your children and you should not use it against them. Instead, introduce them to healthy alternatives. Do not keep junk food in the house and do not let them buy lunch at school. Pack their lunches for school so that you know what they are eating. If you do not give them junk food to take away and they cannot have it when at home, they will be better off.</p>
<p>Include healthy snacks into your family&#8217;s eating routine rather than junk food. Fresh fruit, chopped vegetables, nuts, and frozen yogurt are good healthy snacks for your children. When in doubt, check with the food pyramid but watch calories in the process. You want your children to eat a well balanced diet and eliminate junk food and sweets.</p>
<p>Cut out the juices and pop. This may be a huge ordeal in your family but the greatest gift you can give your child is a deep and abiding liking of water. Water works to make their stomachs feel full and keeps them hydrated for the additional activities you should be introducing into their routines.</p>
<p>Make them take dance lessons, take up a sport, or simply get out and run around the yard. The worst thing you can do is to allow your children to become comatose television, computer, or video game zombies. Get them out of the house and get them active. This helps in two ways. First of all, they are not stuffing their faces if they are outside playing and having a good time. Second, they are burning calories as they play which is a big bonus in the dieting process of your children.</p>
<p>As your child begins to lose weight, you should start to notice a very profound change in not only the way he or she carries his or herself but also in his or her relations with others. Your child will experience a restored self-confidence as the pounds come off and the teasing at school stops.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The debate about gay marriages has been a very hot political topic for many years and because it is such a hot subject, the number of places that have come out publicly either for or against the topic is not astounding. While there are few states that allow gay or same-sex marriage, there are a few that are more liberal, affording almost equal rights. Massachusetts is currently the only state  in the United States that allows same-sex marriages. The state of Rhode Island is generous enough to recognize as a legal marriage any same-sex marriage that was carried out in Massachusetts, which is considered a major victory by many same-sex supporters.</p>
<p>Elections of latter years have seen this as a very hot topic and with the White House stating publicly that marriage can only be between a man and a woman, not same-sexes, many states have been very reluctant to sanction  same-sex marriages. However, a few states have permitted same-sex civil unions, which is very similar to marriage. </p>
<p>Those states are: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, and Vermont. The District of Columbia also recognizes same-sex unions and the Governor of New Hampshire has stated openly that he will soon sign a bill giving the OK to same-sex unions. This is a major advance for supporters of the movement. </p>
<p>Although many states have not given the go-ahead to the issue of same-sex marriage, there are states which are sitting around discussing the issue. Many couples who are struggling for their rights have argued that there is just no difference in the manner they run their households compared with their heterosexual counterparts. They have also stated that while they may be with a partner who is the same sex as them, they do still love their partner and ought to have the legal right to marry them too. </p>
<p>This has always been a hot subject, and probably will continue to be a hot subject for many years in the future. While the issues rage within the states and at the national level, it will more than likely be quite a long time before the gay and lesbian rights groups are able to really declare a triumph for their cause. Nevertheless, there is some solace to be taken in the small triumphs as they occur, and another Governor of a state being willing to permit a civil union is at least a move in the direction of triumph.</p>
<p>However, the fact remains that the views of the individual states usually reflect the views of the President. With a President in office who is a staunch opponent of same-sex marriage as well as civil union, it is unlikely to allow much room for many triumphs until a more accommodating, or rather liberal, President is in the White House. Time will tell what President Obama&#8217;s views are.</p>
<p>Once the bill passes through all the channels of office, it goes into effect as early as the next year for the New Hampshire residents, who have been waiting patiently. With each state that gives this right to its residents, it opens the doors to more states to start becoming more tolerant of all its inhabitants. Finally, this is paving the way for America to join the bulk of Europe in recognizing the legal inequalities of straight and gay couples nationwide.</p>
